Clyde Stands In Solidarity With Ohio Workers As Labor Endorsements Mount

COLUMBUS — State Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) expressed gratitude today to be honored in recent months with endorsements in her campaign for Secretary of State from some of Ohio’s largest leading labor organizations, representing hundreds of thousands of workers.

“The history of the labor movement has been critical to the progress we’ve made as a state and a nation. The members and leadership of these organizations are on the front lines every day fighting for better wages, affordable health care, and equality for all Ohio workers. The work they do is vital, and I am proud to have earned these endorsements,” said Rep. Clyde. “As Secretary of State, I’ll continue to stand in solidarity with workers, fighting to protect their rights and to make sure their voices are heard.”

Since February, Rep. Clyde has received endorsements from the following organizations:

    • Ohio AFL-CIOrepresenting 600,000 union men and women through 41 international unions and 1,500 local unions
    • Ohio Education Associationrepresenting more than 125,000 teachers, faculty members and support professionals who work in Ohio schools
    • Ohio Federation of Teachersrepresenting 20,000 members in 55 locals across the state that include public school educators and support staff, higher education faculty and support staff, and public employees
    • United Auto Workers — representing 150,000 active and retired members in Ohio
    • Communications Workers of America District 4including 40 Ohio local unions that represent workers in telecommunications, informational technology, publishing, print and electronic media, manufacturing, higher education, local government and health care
    • Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and Trainmen North America’s oldest rail labor union, representing more than 55,000 members
