COLUMBUS –Veterans Working for Ohio, a statewide, non-partisan advocacy group that seeks to educate political candidates about issues of importance to veterans, servicemembers and families, today announced its endorsement of state Rep. Kathleen Clyde (D-Kent) for Ohio Secretary of State.
“Veterans Working for Ohio is proud to endorse Kathleen Clyde for Secretary of State because she will be a fighter for veterans, servicemembers and our families,” said Morris Foster, retired SMSgt, USAF and Director of Communications at Veterans Working for Ohio. “We need leaders who will protect our military community’s ability to create a small business, access health care and have financial stability. Representative Clyde will protect our right to vote, have jobs with good wages and our right to self-protection. Kathleen Clyde has proven herself to be the 100 percent leader we need in Columbus.”
“Veterans Working for Ohio is doing incredible work to advocate for veterans and their families on the issues that matter most, like healthcare access, economic opportunity and fair districts, and I am proud to have earned their endorsement,” said Kathleen Clyde. “As Secretary of State, I will continue to fight to protect our fundamental right to vote and support veterans by making it free for them to start a business in Ohio. It’s the least we can do to thank them for their service.”
While serving in the legislature, Rep. Clyde advocated for veterans and their families, supporting policies to expand healthcare access, extend job protection and protect voting rights. Clyde has also been a leading voice for redistricting reform and fought against Senate Bill 5 attacks on working people. She is the Democratic nominee for Ohio Secretary of State and currently serves as State Representative for Ohio’s 75th House district, which includes most of Portage County in Northeast Ohio.
